LIFE LATELY {3.25.19}

Happy Monday, friends!!

Well, I took a longer break from blogging than planned but it was fabulous and much needed! Originally, I was going to take off Spring Break with my kids…and it was wonderful! Lots of rest, late nights, movie time, playing outside, and board games. Exactly what our family needed before starting up busy baseball season. However, the 17th was my birthday and Mark surprised me with a trip to Vegas! We spent five days together last week - just the two of us. It was FABULOUS! Today I’m sharing a little from our trip and a little life lately. 😉

Earlier this month, Cutter performed a musical at church about the story of Joseph with a 50s twist - Not Your Average Joe . If you know this kid, it was HUGE that he stood up there and sang with the Kidz Praise Choir! And having your friend in choir with you makes it even better!

Spring soccer season started a few weeks ago for Cutter. We had to bundle up for the first game of the season, but we were so grateful for warmer weather this week!

Carson played his first game of the season this week. He wears his Daddy’s old baseball number - #19!

Cutter played his first games this week too. However, to be a little different than his older brother, he wears Daddy’s old basketball number - #31!

We have games Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday nights. If you need us for the next few months, we’ll be at the ballpark! #myfavoritetimeofyear

We celebrated my birthday in Vegas this year! I’m a St. Patrick’s Day baby so I was sporting my green for the day!

Mark surprised me with the trip and it was THE BEST birthday!

Mark booked us at the Palazzo. I don’t normally post pics of hotel rooms but I was so impressed!

We had a whole seating area complete with desk and dining table.

And the bathroom was beautiful! I think it was probably the largest we’ve ever had on a trip.

It even had a make up vanity!

Mark had no idea the room was so nice. He was pleasantly surprised as well!

We ate lobster rolls one day and lobster grilled cheese the next day for lunch at Luke’s. They were both SO GOOD!

I didn’t take a lot of pics this trip but I’m always a sucker for a waterfall or fountain. I think they are beautiful and so soothing when you stop to listen.

We did a lot of walking! Over 70,000 steps in three days!
We went to the Fashion Mall and did a little shopping too. I think they add more stores every time we go!

My favorite was Kendra Scott!
We don’t have one locally so I always love to see all the jewelry. I love her pieces because they are so lightweight and most can be dressed up or down depending on if you are headed to church or just in t-shirt and jeans for the day.

That’s a little life lately.
Hope you guys have a great week!

Happy Monday, Everyone!

Hope you had the BEST weekend! We had a very slow lazy weekend which was exactly what we needed! We finished up basketball season with all three boys last week so we enjoyed a sport free weekend before more chaos begins. Soccer and baseball season start this week so it was short lived but absolutely wonderful!

We had the perfect Saturday. I spent the morning snuggled on the couch reading.

While Cutter and Mark played Monopoly! Cutter’s favorite game - except that Daddy won!

It was insanely windy so we stayed inside most of the day except to make a coffee run! Mark knows the way to my heart! 😉

Cutter and Carson played that afternoon while Conner hung out with friends and Mark and I watched Kentucky basketball. Kentucky BEAT Auburn! #hugeUKfanshere

I also snuck in reading a few more chapters of It’s Not Supposed To Be This Way by Lysa Terkeurst.

I can’t stop talking about this book! It’s THAT good! I sent this photo to a friend and told her for the 100th time that she needs to catch up and keep reading! We agreed when we finished the book, we would talk about it and she’s not really a reader. She’s hanging in there with me! It is such good stuff! So much truth I needed to hear this weekend! #keepreadingchristy #youcandoit

That night, we grabbed some dinner and took it over to Mark’s parents so we could eat and visit with them. His sweet mom had shoulder surgery and is still recovering. That means Grandad is on extra duties around the house so we thought taking care of dinner might be one less thing for him.

After church Sunday morning (no pic because I forgot!), Cutter and I played a game of Trouble. He won!

Meanwhile, Mark took Carson to baseball tryouts.

Due to weather earlier in the week, they had to reschedule his tryouts to Sunday afternoon. Remember, I said baseball season is here! First practices are tonight!

I made myself a latte and tackled some work on the computer. Worked on this blog post as well as worked on some real estate contracts that came in that afternoon. I am very blessed to do something I love!

We played another board game with the little Cs. This time they chose Beat the Parents. In this game, the kids ask the parents questions and the parents ask the kids questions. Each time you answer correctly, you move your game piece forward one space. The team that reaches the other side of the board first, wins.

Every time we play there is a memory made of a question. Alyssa and Conner, if you’re reading, remember Denmarkans?! Ha!

This was the question of the night: In the old days, why did women wear a bustle? to make their butts look bigger
You can imagine the laughter from our 9 year old and 12 year old boys! #nomomdoesntwearone #thankyouforasking

As I’m typing this, I realize there wasn’t much to share from our weekend. It really was slow and laid back. But it’s also just the kind of weekends I want to remember!

Hello, Summer!

We are SO glad to see you!!

We finished up the last week of school STRONG and exhausted! Ha! Today, I'm sharing what we have been up to lately!

Cutter's team placed 2nd for the season and therefore made it to the City Tournament.

I snapped this pic during the game of Cutter talking to his coach during a pitching change. We have LOVED being on the Hot Rods this year and having Coach HIriam!

This kid played his heart out! We fell short 13-9 but these kiddos had a great season!

Carson had his last awards ceremony for elementary. Insert sad face HERE. He was a Million Word Reader this year, A/B Honor Roll, and was awarded the Musician award. He says it is because he loves to sing. He definitely loves a stage and audience! This kid is full of confidence! We are so proud of him. I cannot believe he will be in middle school next year! Eeeks!

We surprised Conner with a new truck! He came home one day last week from workouts and this was parked in the driveway for him! He was very excited! He just finished his sophomore year of high school. Only two more years at home! #timepleaseslowdown Love this kid!

And these two girls finished up college classes! Alyssa took a May term class these past few weeks after her spring semester completed. This girl is pulling a 4.0 and is a JUNIOR in college! So incredibly proud of all of her hard work!

Side note - last summer Alyssa and her roommate, Kayla (on the left) spent the summer with us. We had so much fun with pool dates and shopping, cooking, game nights, and watching Big Brother together! This summer they are out of the dorms and in an apartment and are both working therefore they are staying in Waco for the summer. We are going miss having them home!

On Saturday, this happened...

My nephew, Josh, graduated!!

Oh my goodness, we could not be more proud and excited for him!!

Conner and Josh are very close. Conner is really going to miss him when he leaves for college in the Fall. Until then, they have a summer to make more memories! (P.S. It was 100 degrees here Saturday and Josh threw his hat at the end of the ceremony. Thus, crazy hair! We still adore him but his Momma got it fixed after we took these few pics! Ha!)

Joshua Martin, you have no idea how much all your little cousins love you and look up to you! We love you BIG!

That's our life lately!

Happy Monday, friends!

Hey Hey Everyone!

Happy Monday!

Last week, I shared a little on Tuesday Talk about how our favorite family vacation to date was when we went to Family Camp in Glorieta, NM.

This was us on Super Hero day!

We attended Family Camp with three other families we are close friends with and had

THE BEST time!

We did lots of activities that week!

IMG_7078 (1).jpg

Hiking and exploring!

Archery tag!

But the BIGGEST BLESSING of our week, was spending time studying God's word together.

Each morning, we had a worship time with all the families where we would start our day singing songs of praise. We would then break into small groups - adults, youth, and children broken up by ages/grades. We each studied the same lesson each day but it was taught on each level. We had a speaker for the week that shared the lesson with the adults and then camp counselors taught the lesson and led discussion with the kids.

Next, was family time. Each family found a place to meet and further discuss the day's lesson with one another and complete an assigned activity. It was wonderful to have this time with our kids and to really listen to what was on their hearts!

At the end of our week, each family was given a wooden board and asked to discuss what their family took away from the lessons that week. What could we take home with us that God had laid on our hearts. We discussed it with our four kiddos and decided on the slogan
"Don't Miss It".

Alyssa painted our sign for us. :)

Don't Miss It.

We wanted to come home and remember that God is always with us and He is always working around us.

Don't Miss It.

Don't Miss the opportunities God gives you each day.
Don't Miss the chance to be kind.
To be nice to others.
To encourage one another.
To lift each other up.
To pray for one another.

Don't Miss the opportunity to share God's love.
To tell others about Him.
To be the hands and feet of Jesus.

Don't Miss the opportunity to praise God.
To see God in everything around you.
To lift your voice in song to glorify Him.

Don't Miss It.

We decided to hang it above the door to our garage.

This is the door we come in and out of 20 million times a day. When we discussed as a family where to hang our sign in our home, this was the place we all agreed. We wanted to see this reminder every day as we left our home and went out into the world.

My prayer for you this week is that you Don't Miss It.

Have a blessed week, friends!
