WEEKEND WRAP -UP

We had THE BEST weekend!

Friday night was spent at the ballpark for Cutter's game.

IMG_1517.jpg

He had an AH-MAZING catch at 3rd base! Plus, they had two great plays getting the runners out at home plate! An exciting game to end our week and they got the WIN!

On Saturday, Mark and Conner left early to drive to San Antonio for a basketball tournament Conner was playing in with his team. They played two games that afternoon and evening and got back home around 2:00am. Long day!

Mark's parents have a cabin south of town that we loving call The Creek.  They invited Cutter and Carson to spend Saturday with them and my niece and nephew. The Creek is one of our very favorite places to go!

Grandad set up a place for the boys to practice pitching. My sweet nephew, Corban, is the one in the front. :)

Cutter said he was going to help Grandad chop wood.

They love to go on walks and explore.

And of course Carson is picking up rocks. #thatkidandhisrocks

They played games and Gramma helped them make some sweet scrapbooks.

The boys had a GREAT time!

Love these sweet cousins!

While they were having fun at the Creek, I spent my day ALONE.

Mommas, you heard me correctly! I had the day to MYSELF!

I spent my morning READING!

IMG_1548.jpg

Took a break for a quick hair cut. Grabbed an iced coffee on the way home and spent the afternoon on the back patio with a new book! #myhappyplace

At one point I was on the phone with my girlfriend and told her I was having THE PERFECT DAY EVER! Gosh, don't we sometimes just a need a day to rejuvenate?!

However, the BEST part of my day happened at 11:00pm!

I was in bed reading my book (it's a good one!) and there was a knock on the bedroom door. And in walked ALYSSA MICHELLE!!!!

She drove in from Waco after work to surprise me for Mother's Day!

Oh my goodness, I love this girl so much!!!

After church on Sunday, we went out to each for lunch.

After lunch, we spent the afternoon shopping! Woohoo! Our favorite thing to do together!

And the boys were all glad to spend some time with Alyssa too!

We all LOVED having Alyssa home and having all 6 of us together!

I am so grateful God chose me to be their Mom!

Happy Monday, friends!

25 RANDOM THINGS ABOUT ME

Hello Monday!

Today I am sharing 25 RANDOM THINGS ABOUT ME!

Grab your cup of coffee, get cozy, and here we go!

IMG_1180.png

1.  I once issued a warrant for my own arrest! In high school, I worked for the County Clerk's office and issued warrants to be executed. One day, I accidentally entered my name in the wrong blanks and had issued a warrant for myself! Luckily, the Sheriff's office caught the error and thought it was funny. They never let me live it down!

2.  I must have COMPLETE darkness to sleep. (And a box fan for white noise!)

3.  When I was in 3rd grade, I composed a song about the Statue of Liberty on the piano and won 3rd place in the state of Texas!

4.  I have fan girled twice in my life - once when I met Melissa Rycroft (from the Bachelor/Good Morning Dose) in Vegas. She and her husband, Tye, were SUPER sweet! We played Roulette with them! :) The second time was when I (sorta met) Shay Shull of Mix and Match Mama blog. She spoke at my sister-in-law's church in Lewisville. I drove 3 hours that morning to hear her speak at a MOPS group and my heart raced the whole time! I was SO excited to hear her speak!!

5.  I make my bed EVERY. SINGLE. MORNING. I would rather be late to work or my kids late to school than come home to an unmade bed!

6.  I was caught on fire by fireworks when I was 15.  To this day, I can watch fireworks but I want no part in setting them off!

7.  The toilet paper roll ALWAYS has to be put on where it goes OVER the roll! I change this at my office all the time. (We will see how many of my co-workers read my blog!) I may have been known to change this at my Mom's house as well as friends' homes as well.

8.  I ran a half marathon. That was my first race to ever run!

9.  I LOVE coffee! Like it is seriously what gets me out of bed every morning!

10.  I am DEATHLY afraid of snakes.

11.  My full first name is Tish. I get asked all the time "What is Tish short for?" Just me! Ha! My Mom had a friend from England whose daughter was named Patricia. They called her Tish because she was always such a happy baby. Tish means JOY!. My Mom loved the name so she gave it to me. 😊

12.  My eyelashes ARE REAL! I have never used any type of mascara to help them grow. In fact, I have to trim them so that I can wear sunglasses!

13.  I have flown 6 times in my life and only once was it a domestic flight. My 7th flight will be in June to Israel - international again!

14.  I quote Christmas Vacation ALL. YEAR. LONG.

15.  I worked for a Bail Bondsman when I was 18 years old when I thought I wanted to major in Criminal Justice in college. I changed to Education.

16.  I took twirling lessons when I was in middle school because I wanted to be a baton twirler and Rifle Girl in high school. My Freshman year of high school, the school cut out the twirlers.

17.  I tend to have random thoughts run through my mind. Like, when I see a field I think - How many blades of grass are in that field? How many trees are on Interstate 20 between Abilene, TX and Dallas, TX? I think Cutter (our youngest) may also have this line of thinking! He is giving me a run for my money already!

18.  I had ALL of my baby teeth pulled by the dentist except one! The roots to my baby teeth didn't dissolve like they were supposed to do.

19.  When my daughter, Alyssa, got her ears pierced (she was 6 yrs old) I PASSED OUT! Right in the middle of the store at the Mall!

20.  I can handle blood and I can see organs and surgeries, but I CANNOT handle the thought of the cutting of skin or puncturing of skin. (Thus, #19 happened!)

21.  The clothes in my closet are all organized by style (i.e. dresses, tshirts, work shirts, pants, jeans, short sleeve shirts, long sleeve shirts, sweaters, etc.) and by color. (I don't think this is odd but my sister tells me this is not normal. Ha!)

22.  I have to sleep on the side of the bed closest to the door, NOT the window!

23.  I watch Friends and Gilmore Girls on repeat throughout the day, including first thing in the morning while I brush my teeth!

24.  I cannot work without background noise. I always have music or a TV show/movie playing while I work.

25.  I LOVE to read so much that when I finish a book, I find myself thinking about the characters as though they were real. I miss them! (Please tell me I am not the only one!)

There you go! Some randomness for your Monday!

Hope you guys have a FaNtAsTiC day!

DAILY QUIET TIME

Happy Monday, Everyone!

Hope you guys had a great weekend!

We had crazy freezing temperatures here in Texas on Saturday. Thankfully, they canceled soccer and baseball and so we had the day to get all the things done on our "To Do" list! Well, a lot of things anyway. It was a much needed day at home!

We attended church on Sunday morning, had Cutter's soccer game Sunday afternoon, a meeting at church, and then the annual Pie Auction at church that evening which is a fundraiser for our youth.

This week, we have STAAR testing (standardized testing required in TX) at school and therefore no baseball games scheduled. This Momma is looking forward to a little less chaotic week! 😉

Today, I wanted to share about my Daily Quiet Time.

IMG_0968.jpg

My favorite way to start my day is with my daily quiet time. My morning routine is to wake up, wash my face, brush my teeth, grab a cup of coffee, and have my quiet time.

Now please know that for many years while my kiddos were little and my sleep was interrupted with babies and toddlers, I squeezed in my quiet time whenever I could throughout my day. When I taught, it was during my break. However, now that my kiddos are older and my sleep schedule is more consistent, I MUCH prefer mornings! I have always been a morning person. I just LOVE the quiet stillness of the morning hours.

IMG_0969.jpg

I start with reading Jesus Calling by Sarah Young.

IMG_0977.jpg

Each day has a short reading and then some scripture references. It is always a good thought for my day.

Next, I read my One Year Bible.

IMG_0970.jpg

Mark gave me this Bible for Christmas in 2016 and I LOVE it! I read it in 2017 and am now repeating it in 2018. No matter how much or how often I read scripture, God is always faithful to reveal something new to me. Things I didn't dwell on the first time or details I missed before will jump off the page.  I am constantly growing in my faith and in my walk with the Lord.

IMG_0971.jpg

My One Year Bible is written in the New Living Translation. The format is broken into daily readings as well. There is a passage from the Old Testament, New Testament, Psalm and Proverbs for each day. The passages are written in order of the books of the Bible. For example, your Old Testament reading will be in Genesis each day until you read all of Genesis, then it will go to Exodus - New Testament starts with Matthew, then Mark and so on. You read through the Psalms in order and then Proverbs in order as well.

IMG_0972.jpg

I really like the format! It has been the easiest for me to follow when reading all the way through the Bible.

You can find the One Year Bible on Amazon HERE.

After my daily readings, I spend time in prayer. Praying over my day, my kids, Mark, my family, my clients, friends, and any other prayer concerns for that day.

I am a HUGE believer in the power of prayer.

IMG_0974.jpg

I keep a prayer journal to remind me of prayer requests mentioned at church or from family and friends as well as what God has laid on my heart to be praying for during that day or season of life.  Right now I am using this journal. It is just one I picked up at Target. I write the date and then what I am praying for/over that day. I also write praises in my journal. I believe a big part of our time spent in prayer with God should also be spent praising Him for all He does for us and the many blessings we receive daily. I also like to note what I am grateful for in my prayer journal. I try to jot down a couple things each day and try not to repeat - from little things like grateful for coffee to big things like health and Mark & the kids.

IMG_0976.jpg

Our Sunday School class is trying out a new Discipleship Study Guide format this spring and so far I am a FAN! This study guide is broken into 5 daily readings over what the lesson will be the following Sunday. I feel like it really helps me to be prepared for lesson on Sunday and gain more from our Sunday School teachers and class discussion if I have already read over/studied the material beforehand. Again, this is a very short reading each day.

IMG_0975.jpg

Last, I end my quiet time with reading a chapter of a book.

If you know me, you know I LOVE LOVE LOVE to read! If I could find a job where someone paid me to read books, I would apply immediately! If you know of such a job, PLEASE share! Ha!

Because I am always trying to find more time to read, I recently started reading a chapter during my quiet of a Christian genre book. Right now, I am reading Uninvited by Lysa TerKeurst.

That's how I do my quiet time. What about you? I'd love to hear if you have any books/devotions/studies you recommend and how you have your daily quiet time!

Hope you guys have THE BEST week!
